Sr Advanced Electrical Engineer

Manassas, VA

Contract Position

$67.78-$72.78/Hour

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop power systems including AC-DC and DC-DC power systems, power control, and circuit design.
• Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware for military-grade electronics.
• Perform trade studies and component analysis to optimize system architecture and hardware design.
• Design cable assemblies and develop new electronics, including PCB designs and corresponding tests.
• Create and validate test systems and criteria, ensuring hardware meets specifications.
• Deliver technical presentations and documentation to explain system designs and solutions to program management and customers.
• Generate design and interface documentation to support the development lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• Educational Requirements:
  
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
  • Master's degree preferred for candidates with 6+ years of experience.
• Clearance Requirements:
  
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Years of Experience:
  
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant technical experience.
• Technical Expertise:
  
  • Experience with the engineering development lifecycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases.
  • Proficiency in MIL-STD-1399 and MIL-STD-461 design and qualification standards.
  • Expertise in switch-mode DC-DC converter design, including control loop stability analysis.
  • Experience designing 3-phase AC-DC conversion systems, including transformer design.
  • Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as RS-422, RS-485, and LVDS.
  • Hands-on experience with analog and digital circuit design.
• Tools and Technologies:
  
  • Proficiency with lab equipment including signal generators, oscilloscopes, and power analyzers.
  • Experience with all phases of PCB design, including SPICE analysis, schematic entry, and layout optimization.
  • Familiarity with OrCAD Capture is a plus.
• Preferred Skills:
  
  • Experience with firmware or microcontroller development.
  • Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog for hardware description.
