McKesson is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data architectures, databases, and large-scale processing systems to empower our analyst teams in extracting valuable insights from our data resources. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop efficient data pipelines and contribute to our organization's data modernization efforts. This position requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, cloud technologies, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to support various data-driven initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and contribute to the development of data architectures.
  • Work on data integration projects, ensuring seamless and optimized data flow between systems.
  • Implement best practices for data engineering, ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Contribute to data modernization efforts by leveraging cloud solutions and optimizing data processing workflows.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership by staying abreast of emerging data engineering technologies and implementing industry best practices.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the team and train them in data engineering principles and best practices.
  • Address unique technical challenges together and support the team's growth in the field of data engineering.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills
  • 2+ years of experience of professional experience in related IT field
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Deep technical expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines and large-scale processing systems.
  • Deep technical expertise with Azure, Microsoft SQL Server, and Snowflake.
  • Experience working with cloud solutions and contributing to data modernization efforts.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., T-SQL, Python, Javascript) for data manipulation, transformation, normalization, indexing, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent understanding of data engineering principles, data architecture, database performance, and database management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness, ability, and experience in teaching peers best practices and technical concepts.

Additional Skills
  • Knowledge of the healthcare and/or health insurance payers is a plus.
  • Strong technical aptitude and experience with a wide variety of technologies
  • Ability to rapidly learn and if required evaluate a new tool or technology.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Demonstrated technical experience.
  • Be an innovative thinker.
  • Must have a strong customer and quality focus.
  • Familiarity with training techniques a plus.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science) or equivalent experience.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S, now or in the future, without support from McKesson.

Relocation is NOT budgeted for this position.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$82,400 - $137,400
