The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Dermatology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Research Laboratory Technician to work in Miami, FL. The Sr. Research Laboratory Technician performs advanced technical activities related to laboratory research projects and clinical trials within the department. Specifically, the Sr. Research Laboratory Technician aids scientists by monitoring and recording study findings.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Aids scientists by designing, performing, monitoring, recording and analyzing study findings
Downloads, enters, and analyzes data and maintains quality assurance.
Contributes to report writing and graphical presentation of data.
Monitors inventory of equipment and supplies and places orders in a timely fashion.
Maintains laboratory facilities and equipment in compliance with safety regulations and policies.
Prepares reports on project status and risk assessments.
Completes all required documentation for laboratory requests.
Schedules laboratory work based on project priorities to meet deadlines.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
The Sr. Research Laboratory Technician will aid scientists by designing, performing, monitoring, recording and analyzing study findings.
S/he will perform a variety of routine and complex lab procedures in support of preclinical research. More specifically, S/he will conduct experiments in cell and tissue culture and lab mice following standard operating procedures and protocols, as well as establishing new protocols, and help to train technicians and students.
Cell and tissue culture.
Histology (incl. cutting cryosections and paraffin sections), Histological staining (incl. H&E, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence, special stains) and digital microscopy;
Quantitative (immuno-)histomorphometry;
Collects and analyzes data as requested;
Maintains appropriate databases. Ensures accurate written and computerized records;
Trains technicians, students and fellows in the lab in core research techniques;
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance and that applicable safety standards are maintained;
Performs other duties as assigned incl. routine lab duties (taking inventory, ordering supplies, equipment & glassware cleaning etc.)

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Commitment to the University's core values.
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
