Position: Sr. Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
Work Location: Hybrid schedule
Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.
What you will be doing:As a
revenue-based accountant, this professional will be responsible for the integrity of the accounting of Home + Outdoor Trade Management, as well as key net sales related monthly journal entries such as Back-To-Stock, Defective, and Chargeback Accrual, among other tasks.
- Weekly Claims Processing, managing total open TM claims to ensure the balance never grows excessively large, and the finalization of the month end journal entry.
- Perform income statement and balance sheet variance analysis comparing actuals vs. budget or prior year.
- Compile balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prepares journal entries, schedules and analysis in accordance with GAAP for month-end close - these tasks will vary between net sales deductions entries, sales commissions, and trade management.
- Work with internal and external auditors providing supporting documentation as needed.
- Works with support staff and management throughout the company acquiring information to complete financial statements.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
- Able to balance, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Able to interact with various levels of management.
- Filing, organizational and presentation skills
- Familiar with Access, Windows, Acrobat and ORACLE.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
- 3+ years in related experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel etc.).
- Experienced with Accounting, general ledgers, trial balances, SEC and managerial & financial reporting.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications: - Proficient in Oracle Business Intelligence
