Job Title: Staff Accountant

Department: Rust-Oleum US Finance

Reports To: Senior Financial Analyst - Accounting

Direct Reports/Manages others: No

Hybrid Schedule: Our hybrid work environment includes two (2) remote days/week.

Staff Accountant

As our Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate presentation of financial records by providing accounting support and preparing analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliations. This team member will work directly with varying levels of management and sales representatives throughout the organization through various forms of communication when accomplishing these tasks.

Here's what you can expect:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare Journal Entries and account reconciliations
• Ensuring all reconciling items are identified and resolved on a timely basis
• Executing internal controls work and related deliverables for internal/external audit and internal group
• Support Month end close: preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Analyzing financial reports specific to areas of responsibility and investigating discrepancies and variances in results
• Maintain all account reconciliations assigned. Tracks the status of open reconciling items and follow up in engaging and collaborative manner with cross functional involvement making sure they are resolved in the time prescribed by the company's policy
• Identify and implement process improvements to drive accuracy and efficiency
• Prepare and communicate monthly ad-hoc reports, graphics, schedules, etc.
• Support financial requests from various levels of our sales organization

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's in Accounting required
• 0 - 3 years of experience in accounting preferred
• Ability to handle many tasks at a given time and work effectively with others in a team environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large amounts of data.
• Team player with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Detail, deadline and goal-oriented
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
