Job Description:
The State Opioid Response Program Coordinator (C73260) at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the State Opioid Response grant. This position will serve as a liaison with the state and federal governmental agencies and local community partners and stakeholders. This position will also be responsible for managing related contracts and sub-contracts along with activities that support the implementation of grant-funded evidence-based programs.

The State Opioid Response Coordinator oversees and manages opioid response grants.
Examples of Work:
•Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance prevention
and risk reduction efforts funded by the State Opioid Response grant.
•Provide training to targeted community sectors on recognizing opioid
overdose and proper Naloxone use as part of opioid use prevention
education.
•Collaborate with state agencies, providers, community partners, and
stakeholders to prioritize activities related to opioid use disorder
prevention and coordinate efforts to avoid duplication.
•Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings with State Opioid Response
partners, providing briefing materials and updates on program activities.
•Offer technical assistance to program partners to support the successful
implementation of grant-funded initiatives.
•Manage contracts and sub-contracts related to grant activities, ensuring
compliance with federal and agency guidelines.
•Serve as a liaison for prevention and risk reduction activities funded by the
State Opioid Response grant, conducting presentations and representing
the program at various events.
•Prepare and submit documents for required federal and state reporting,
including grant writing, needs assessments, and program evaluation.

Requirements/ Qualifiications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, health sciences, public health, education, law or related field OR experience in the development of operational policies and procedures, performing quality assurance analysis/evaluation of programs; grant writing, contract management, or leading community based health/social care groups. Related coursework, training and/or education may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for year basis

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in social work, Public Health, Public Administration, or related human services field. Experience working with behavioral health and/or community-based organizations. Enthusiasm for working with diverse stakeholders and constituents (coalition and community members). Experience in data collection, resource mapping, focus groups, surveys, and key stakeholder interviews. Experience using data to evaluate, monitor and inform program implementation.

Other: Valid Driver's License is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of implementation science and applied research in prevention programming.
  • Ability to identify tangible and intangible community assets and resources.
  • Knowledge of outcomes-based prevention strategies.
  • Knowledge of best practices in prevention program capacity-building and sustainability.
  • Ability to support community-based organizations in building capacity.
  • Ability to interact in a virtual environment.
  • Effective computer skills. Proficient using Microsoft office suite Word, Excellent, outlook and power point.
