Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has an exciting opportunity for a hospitality or business student to join our team and work with our Highway Safety Office!

At the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office, we are responsible to reduce Nebraska's traffic-related injury and fatality rates and to manage the Federal Highway Safety Funds.

Job Duties:
•Plan, research and organize meetings, trainings and conferences.
•Provide liaison between and confer with various project officials and federal and state authorities.
•Review requisitions, billings, invoices, and contracts pertaining to federal aid for proper documentation. May include amending improper or inaccurate documents.
•Prepare monthly and annual reports evaluating various federal aid activities; includes monitoring progress of all required applications and agreements to ensure deadlines are met.
•As assigned, collect, enter, and analyze data used to identify the state's highway safety problems.
•Perform other duties as assigned. Teamwork. If something needs to be done and you can do it and have the time - you should do it.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Must be a three-fourths time student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications: Student majoring in Hospitality or Business Administration, or the equivalent, with at least 12 semester hours of hospitality or business administration.

Other: Valid driver license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation is required. Applicants must be at least a three fourths time student and be able to work at least 10 hours a week when classes are in session. Temporary full-time employment may be available during scheduled school breaks. Employment up to 2080 hours or four years, whichever comes first. If employed to 2080 hours, student must take a 30-day break before returning to work. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must be proficient and experienced in the use of computer programs and personal computers. Must have experience with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Acrobat Pro. Objective mindset, customer service oriented, adaptable, well organized and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Will be required to organize/attend conferences and occasional public meetings, out of town and occasional overnight travel required.
