The Sustainability Coordinator assists the University of Miami in the design and implementation of its sustainability initiatives and its sustainable operation plan. The Sustainability Analyst provides strategic and technical support and direction to projects that is thoughtful, creative, practical, and effective.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Generates the UM yearly Green House Gas inventory.
Tracks, reports and analyzes sustainability data required for the implementation of UM Sustainable Operation Plan on a monthly basis.
Uses a variety of research methods to analyze, report, and provide recommendations for corporate sustainability projects and programs.
Ensures proper sustainability benchmarks are established and maintained using the Sustainability Tracking and Assessment Rating System (STARS) measures, standards, and methodologies.
Collects, normalizes and analyzes data for other Sustainability reports that the OS is responsible for.
Serves as liaison between our utilities platform reporting systems, Energy Star Portfolio Manager, and the OS' own educational outreach tools (Map, sustainable building dashboard…).
Uses the tools feature to create behavioral change outreach strategies for Staff, Faculty and Students.
Promotes, enhances and improves current programs (Green Lab, Waste Reduction and Diversion initiatives, Green Office, Green Events, Green Liaisons and Green Athletics), and designs new educational outreach programs with the most current user friendly digital tools.
Establishes ROI and savings targets on both educational and operational programs.
Assesses the effectiveness of the University's sustainability performance by regularly monitoring and benchmarking best practices in our peer institutions.
Identifies grants and other funding opportunities to support the campus sustainability efforts.
Develops Sustainable Operation Project management plans. Monitor & report on projects' progress, milestones within specified frequency.
Builds good relationships, and work closely with other members of the Facilities Operation and Planning team, as well as with other university departments.
Advises, assists, and recommends to both the Director of the Office of Sustainability and the Director of Building and Energy Systems alternate energy and water sources, consumption, and general energy and water conservation measures.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
LEED Green Associate, Microsoft Power BI Certification, and ArcGIS Certification are preferred
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office, Power BI, Power Automate, ArcGIS)
Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence
Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
