Job Title: Technical Program Manager
Location: Remote but close enough to go onsite in Culver City about once every 2 weeks
Duration: 11+ months (until end of the fiscal year)

OVERVIEW

The Growth Marketing Operations Team plays a key role in enabling on-device communications and automated messaging for our client's media products and services. This team focuses on the timely delivery, strategy, and execution of in-app messaging sent to millions of users across multiple services.

As a Technical Program Manager focused on Data Intelligence & Privacy within Growth Marketing Operations, you'll use your expertise to coordinate cross-functional teams that enable data and machine learning models, while reducing privacy risks for our client's users. You'll work closely with privacy legal and privacy engineering teams to ensure every data use case and new data onboard request meets compliance standards. This involves vetting new signals and data points, obtaining necessary approvals, and advocating for privacy in all aspects of our client's messaging efforts. This role is integral to ensuring that our client's growth messaging keeps users' privacy at the forefront of everything they do, enabling effective, privacy-compliant communications that support our client's broader marketing initiatives.

TOP SKILLS

  • Core data knowledge - deep understanding of technical design, back-end architecture, big data, and ETL pipelines
  • Experience with privacy or legal aspects of consumer-facing applications, products, and services
  • Strong Project Management experience within the data domain
    • Experience leading programs that are at the intersection of business, engineering, and marketing
    • Experience leading projects that involve Data and/or ML integration into automated marketing messaging and/or consumer-facing applications
    • Strong applied experience defining projects, collecting, and documenting requirements, coordinating efforts to scope, and finding solutions.
    • Experience with Project Management tools like Jira, Confluence, Keynote
  • Working knowledge of propensity models, A/B testing, Bayesian statistics, personalization, and/or reinforcement learning
    • Models used in campaigns - predict which users will click on offers - use in campaign to focus specific users
    • A/B Testing - testing campaigns against each other to see which method works best
  • Understanding of Growth Marketing initiatives and consumer lifecycles
    • Acquisition or engagement are both relevant
    • In-app, push notifications, on-device, email campaigns
    • Data is a must, ML is a plus
  • Must have strong technical expertise and be able to drive/engage meaningful discussions with engineering teams in the following areas:
    • Data Analytics
    • ETL pipelines and different elements of data pipelines including data schemas
    • Open-Source Technologies: Spark, Hive, Hadoop, or other big data tools
  • Must have excellent presentation skillsand be able to clearly articulate insights to stakeholders at the Director or VP level. Will be presenting weekly to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Must have curious mindset with an ability to condense complex concepts into clear and concise action items

DAY TO DAY
  • Deal with new data onboard requests, collect inputs for privacy preparation, and get approvals that are used for marketing campaigns - in-app, push notifications, and sometimes email
  • Manage new data onboard requests, ensuring smooth integration and compliance.
  • Collect inputs and prepare for privacy reviews, working with legal and privacy engineering teams to evaluate data use cases.
  • Obtain approvals for data usage, supporting various marketing channels including in-app messaging, push notifications, and email campaigns.
  • Serve as a bridge between engineers developing data signals and marketers utilizing them, ensuring clear communication and interpretation of data functionality.
  • Engage with marketing strategy and operations to align data insights with campaign goals.
This person will:
  • Communicate: Provide clear, timely and objective communication, including regular program status updates and critical issues as needed to the Growth Marketing Operations team.
  • Coordinate: Lead discussions with Engineering, Growth Project Managers and other technical program managers to define requirements that translate Growth Marketing use-cases into detailed technical documentation needed for Privacy & Legal reviews, and marketing platform users in Growth Marketing Operations. Break down complex issues into discussion topics, maintaining an orientation toward teamwork and collaboration.
  • Plan: Create and manage Data Enablement & Privacy project schedules for Data Signals and ML models with clear dependencies, critical path and systematic methodology to communicate status. Manage risks and mitigations, and re-plan as events warrant. Drive alignment across the organization and between teams.
  • Execute: Drive on time approval and delivery of data signals and ML models, identifying privacy & legal dependencies and feasibility needs, establishing achievements for checkpoints and status updates.
  • Problem solve: Proactively identify issues and solutions, and marshal resources necessary to attack and resolve.
  • Guide Engineers on implementation decisions impacted by compliance, privacy, safety or security policies or best practices.
Percentage breakdown:

40% - privacy - ensuring adherence to privacy regulations
35% - interfacing with Engineering. Documenting signal construction, understanding their technical specifications and parameters. Translating Engineering documentation into terms understandable to journey builders for execution, bridging the gap between technical intricacies and practical marketing implementation
25% - marketing - they use all these data signals to construct their campaigns

Education & Experience
  • B.A./M.S. or advanced degree in a technical or related discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, EE, Project Management etc.
