Position:Technician - Material Analysis and Metrology
Location: Latrobe, PA

Position is required to maintain high quality and expertise levels for microstructure analysis. Future workload demands may lead to support for other labs including grinding, metallography, mechanical testing, chemistry, x-ray, metrology and/or powder characterization. Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills are required. Must be adaptable to change and strategic to optimize productivity while providing reliable test results.

Tasks:
• Assess metallographic samples for porosity, anomalies, grain size, coating thickness and other qualities of interest utilizing optical microscopy techniques.
• Document test results with LIMS.
• Communicate with submitters and materials analysis team members to resolve questions on requests as needed.
• Strictly adhere to standard procedures developed at the Technology Center.
• Cross train on other sample preparation and analytical techniques to provide back up and support for changes in workload.
• Follow all EHS practices.
• Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.

Desired Skills / Experience:
• Optical microscope operation for metallography sample assessment preferred, however training can be provided for candidate meeting other qualifications.
• Attention to detail
• Excellent verbal communications skills.
• Proactive approach for safety and continuous improvement.
• Collaboration with trust and respect in a diverse team environment.
• Ability to address high volume workload without compromise to quality.
• Focus on exceptional customer experience.
• Basic PC skills in spreadsheets and word processing.

Education:
• Technical degree (science, math, computer) or high school diploma and 3-5 years practical experience in a technical function.
