Abel Womack, a leading dealer in the sale, service and rental of material handling equipment, seeks an experienced Class A Truck Driver for pickup and delivery of battery-powered lift trucks and other industrial equipment to our customers. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY is delivery of lift trucks and other equipment throughout New England and part of New York, ensuring customer satisfaction with each piece of equipment upon delivery. Duties include:

• Safe and legal operation of the Company tractor-trailer to ensure that local equipment deliveries are made in an efficient, consistent and professional manner.
• Maintaining a valid Class A, CDL in compliance with all Local, State and Federal transportation guidelines, including those related to medical cards, drug testing, mileage reporting, and all other requirements.
• Safely securing equipment on/in trailer
• Ability to perform equipment operator familiarization/orientation upon delivery (as needed)
• Providing excellent customer service upon delivery and pickup, including direct communication with the customer and Abel Womack technicians to streamline deliveries and pickups
• Making minor adjustments or basic lift truck repairs on equipment at customer site or pre-delivery, when necessary, to ensure equipment is customer-ready
• Properly executing and returning all required forms and paperwork including, but not limited to, bills of lading, rental agreements and driver logs
• Adhering to all safety regulations and to company professional appearance standards

REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Class A Commercial Drivers' License
• HazMat endorsement or willingness to obtain HazMat endorsement, required
• 3+ years' experience in a similar role required
• Must pass all physical requirements imposed by Local, State and Federal agencies as related to the DOT
• Strong knowledge of New England and New York roadways and corresponding traffic laws, required
• Familiarity with Shipping/Receiving role in a similar heavy-equipment industry environment preferred
• Ability to maintain company vehicle and rigging equipment mechanically and in accordance with Local, State and Federal guidelines for licensing, safety, and all other requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs frequently without assistance, operate chain and strap binders, use adequate pull force to safely secure loads.
• Must be able to operate lift equipment safely and obtain PIT license (company will train and issue license)
• Must be mechanically-inclined. Previous experience performing mechanical repairs is helpful
• Must be able to work overtime as required. Overnight stays are an exception, dependent on DOT hours of service regulations
• Must be able to drive long distances; to stand, walk, bend, stoop and reach frequently.

Pay Range: $28 - $38 per hour
